It started to snow about 30 seconds after I took this picture. Luckily I was only a few minutes away from my house.

The weather was nice for about 2 hours today, so I went for a short ride. I filled the gas tank for the first time since November and it needed all of 0.9 gallons. I also was able to do a top speed test, and the 125cc engine was able to hit a blistering 49mph. I guess that's incentive for me to shed a few pounds.

If you hit 49 on level ground, you won't gain any speed by losing any amount of weight. It will help you maintain higher speeds going up grades though!

If I lose some weight, it might not take quite so long to hit 49 :-)

There’s a chance that I could go faster, but I ran out of road. I just took a quick ride to the Speedway on 378, and then I hit 49 on my way to center valley parkway. Maybe if I had stayed straight, I could have crept up a few more mph.

Coming back home over south mountain, I had a hard time maintaining 25 up the steepest portion of the road.

Losing weight reduces frontal and wetted areas.

Did you take 145 over the hill? Or a back road?

I try to mostly stick to backroads. My minute on 378 was the exception. Here’s a very rough sketch of my ride.

Oh man, is that honeysuckle road? That thing is wicked steep. I’ve ridden up it from emmaus a venue a couple times on my bicycle and it was brutal

I only came back down Honeysuckle, not up it. If you know where Bulldog Beverage is on Emmaus Ave, that’s where I went up. On the way back I took Stonesthrow to Black River Rd, and then down Honeysuckle.

Coming up Stonesthrow, I thought about going up Honeysuckle but it looked too steep.
